Awhile back I posted about PetsMart refusing to groom my cat because they couldn't get him out of the cage. I thought they were crazy. My sweet little Kingston being a trouble maker? How could they accuse him of such a thing?!
Little did I know, Kingston has an alter ego and after three years of innocence, he finally revealed it to us. He's always been what we call a "special needs" kitty. He needs human contact or he goes stir crazy. Given this, we've never been able to leave him in the house by himself for longer than 2 nights. If we go out of town longer than that, we always board him.
The place we board him always require his vaccinations to be updated, so I made an appointment with the Vet. As soon as I walk into the Vet's office, Kingston starts meowing low. By the time we get into the room, he's gone crazy...hissing, yowling, ears straight back, eyes big as acorns, clawing at the side of the crate. Thinking he's just scared of the other people, I bend down and start talking to him to try and soothe him. He does the same thing to me! He was vicious! As soon as we got out in the car he was fine.
A few days later, we drop him off to board and guess what he does? The same thing! Jesse has to put on hawk gloves to get him out of the carrier and into a cage. Mind you, he's been to the Vet and to Boarding many times before, yet he's NEVER done this. Why now?
As far as we know, the only thing different is that we have a baby now. It's freaky!
Since Nate wasn't feeling well (AGAIN) he fell asleep early last night, so he missed his bath. I decided to give him one this morning before heading off to work. Something people don't tell you is that babies really don't smell like 'babies" without a lot of effort. In reality, they usually stink because they like to hide things in their many, many fat rolls :)
So, Jesse ran Nate some bath water while I changed his booger infested bed sheets. Meanwhile, I hear Kingston, our cat, begging for attention, as he has done every morning since Nate intruded his world. He's a very needy cat and loves to be the center of attention.
Jesse starts to get Nate undressed and I walk into the bathroom to check the water temperature. Much to my surprise I see Kingston in the tub full of water! He's so starved for attention he jumped into the thing he hates the most, water! He looked up at me like...Mom, I'll be your baby...you can give me a bath. All I could do was shake my head and laugh. Poor kitty!
I stayed home this morning with Nate so I could take him to his check-up. He went to sleep around 9am, so I came downstairs to check my work e-mail. About 30 minutes later I go back upstairs and notice his door is open wider than I left it, which usually means Kingston, our cat, has been in there.
I look into his crib and guess who's in there laying on Nate's blanket at the foot of the crib ...KINGSTON! I refrain from yelling because I don't want to wake Nate up, so I pick the cat up by his scruff, find the spray bottle, spray him to death and lock him in his "kitty room". Yes, my cat has a room...we don't trust him out while we're gone. I wonder why?
I would've taken a picture because it was kind of cute, but I was so pissed off that I didn't think about it. I still can't believe he had the nerve to jump in the crib! Now I'm going to have to shut Nate's door instead of just leaving it cracked. DARN CAT!
I've always loved animals, with cats being my favorite. I grew up with cats and dogs and always wanted to have animals when I moved out on my own. It didn't quite work out though because the people I lived with never agreed to it. It took me seven years to talk my boyfriend into letting me have one! He let me go pick out one as a birthday present two years ago. I was so excited!
So, here's one of the loves of my life, Kingston. If you read my travel post, you know I love Jamaica, hence the cat's name. He drives me crazy sometimes, but he also makes me very happy which I think you can say about everyone you love.
We took him to PetsMart to be groomed a few weeks ago because his fur is so thick and he's shedding alot. I received a voicemail about an hour after dropping him off stating, "I don't think this is going to work. We can't get your cat out of the kennel". Can you believe a professional groomer was scared to stick their hand in the kennel and pull him out? Does he look ferocious?
We tried stacking stuff on him one night to see how much he'd put up with before waking up :)
